RAMALLAH — Israeli troops killed at least one Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, the Palestinian health ministry said, extending a wave of violence that has claimed lives in separate incidents across the territory in recent days.
The ministry reported the death during Israeli military activity near the northern West Bank, an area that has seen repeated raids in Jenin, Tulkarem and Nablus. The Israeli military said its forces operated against what it described as militant infrastructure and suspects.
The latest deaths follow incidents on Saturday, when the Israeli army and settlers killed two Palestinians in separate confrontations, according to Palestinian officials. Settler violence has risen sharply across the West Bank over the past year, with rights groups documenting attacks on villages and farmland.
The Palestinian Authority condemned the killings and renewed calls for international protection for civilians. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has repeatedly warned that displacement and casualties in the West Bank have reached their highest levels in years.
Human rights organisations, including B'Tselem and Al-Haq, have urged accountability for both military operations and settler attacks, saying impunity has fuelled the escalating cycle of violence in the occupied territory.
