ZANDVOORT — McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris entered Sunday's Dutch Grand Prix as favourites following strong sprint qualifying results at Zandvoort. Norris qualified second and Piastri fourth on Saturday, continuing the form the team showed before the mid-season pause.

McLaren has led the constructors' standings for much of 2026, with Piastri and Norris contesting the drivers' title between themselves. The race resumes Formula One's championship battle following the summer break.

The Circuit Zandvoort, with its banked corners and narrow layout, historically rewards qualifying position and makes overtaking difficult. Red Bull, competing at their home-adjacent Dutch fixture, and Ferrari were expected to challenge McLaren for podium positions on race day.

A victory for either McLaren driver would tighten or extend the intra-team title fight ahead of the European rounds. Team principal Andrea Stella has repeatedly said the team would allow both drivers to race freely while managing reliability and strategy.

The Dutch Grand Prix was scheduled to start in the early afternoon local time. Tyre degradation and weather off the North Sea coast were expected to influence strategy calls across the grid.
