Christopher Nolan's forthcoming epic 'The Odyssey' becomes a focal point of Mumbai's film community this week, as Universal Pictures and exhibition partners screen exclusive preview footage on July 10-11. The adaptation of Homer's poem ranks among the most anticipated releases of 2026.

Nolan shot the film using IMAX cameras across multiple international locations. Universal has positioned it as a tentpole release, with the theatrical run beginning in mid-July and India designated as a priority market following the strong performance of Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' there in 2023.

The Mumbai events will showcase early footage and emphasise the large-format presentation Nolan favours. Indian exhibitors, including IMAX-equipped multiplex chains such as PVR Inox, have promoted advance interest, citing the director's loyal following in the country.

The push reflects Hollywood studios' increasing reliance on the Indian box office, now among the largest theatrical markets globally. Trade publications including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have tracked Universal's marketing rollout closely, noting the film's ensemble cast and Nolan's track record of commercial success.

A Universal Pictures spokesperson said the studio was committed to delivering 'The Odyssey' in the formats Nolan intended, with IMAX 70mm presentations planned in select territories. The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya among others.
