'Jailer 2', the Rajinikanth-led action sequel directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide on Saturday, distributor Sun Pictures confirmed, as the film held strong across Tamil Nadu and overseas screens.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster opened to record advance bookings and has drawn full houses since release. Trade analysts at Sacnilk and industry tracker Komal Nahta reported sustained occupancy through the second weekend, driven by Rajinikanth's star power and favourable word of mouth across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi markets.

Fellow actor Kamal Haasan publicly congratulated Rajinikanth earlier this week, calling the film a superhit and praising his longtime friend. The endorsement amplified the film's momentum ahead of the weekend, with multiplexes in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad adding extra shows to meet demand.

The milestone reinforces the commercial pull of Tamil cinema's biggest name and positions 'Jailer 2' among the highest-grossing Indian releases of the year. Overseas collections, particularly in the Gulf states, Malaysia, and North America, contributed significantly to the worldwide total.

Sun Pictures expects the film to continue its run well into its third week, buoyed by the extended festival-season audience and limited competition in the regional market.
