AICHI, Japan — Indian shooters extended their dominance at the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday, adding multiple medals across pistol and rifle finals. Suruchi Singh reaffirmed her status as one of the country's brightest young talents, according to the National Rifle Association of India.

Singh claimed her second gold by partnering Kamaljeet in the mixed pistol event. She said she hopes the victory will build momentum toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, following a breakthrough year that has placed her among India's most consistent pistol shooters on the international circuit.

India's shooting contingent has become the backbone of the country's Asian Games campaign, mirroring its record-breaking haul at Hangzhou in 2023. The Sports Authority of India said the delegation entered the Aichi Games targeting more than 20 shooting medals.

The performances added to a broader Indian surge across combat and precision disciplines. Kurash athlete Pincky Balhara collected a second Games medal earlier in the week. State chief ministers publicly congratulated returning medallists as the campaign gathered pace.

The shooting results position India near the top of the medal table in the discipline, reinforcing the sport as the nation's most reliable source of Asian Games success ahead of the athletics and hockey finals still to come.
