LONDON — Chelsea confirmed the signing of England forward Morgan Rogers in a deal worth up to £117m on Monday, completing one of the most expensive transfers in Premier League history.

Sky Sports News reported over the weekend that Chelsea had agreed personal terms and a fee with Aston Villa for the 24-year-old. Rogers, who established himself as a regular in Thomas Tuchel's England squad, signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge after passing a medical.

The transfer demonstrates Chelsea's continued investment in young talent under ownership led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. Aston Villa manager Unai Emery had resisted the sale earlier in the summer, but the scale of Chelsea's offer proved decisive.
