INDIANAPOLIS — Alex Palou cemented his status as the man to beat at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, claiming pole position for the GMR Grand Prix on the road course and converting that front-row start into a commanding race victory. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver, who led the second practice session on Friday, carried that momentum through qualifying and the race itself, crossing the finish line ahead of a hard-charging Pato O'Ward in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren machine.

Palou's performance was a continuation of the form that made him IndyCar champion in recent seasons. His Dallara-Honda was consistently smooth through the infield sections of the IMS road course, and his pit strategy — opting for an early undercut on the leaders during the second caution period — proved decisive in the closing stages.

O'Ward pushed hard in the final ten laps but could not close the gap to Palou, finishing 2.4 seconds adrift. Scott Dixon, Palou's Ganassi teammate, rounded out the podium in third, giving the team a dominant one-three finish and extending Palou's points lead in the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series standings.

The result sets the stage for a compelling Month of May at Indianapolis, with the Indianapolis 500 oval qualifying still to come later in the month.
