SANTA CLARA, California — AMD and its ecosystem partners on Saturday detailed the newly unveiled Helios rackscale platform, positioning the technology as a direct challenge to Nvidia's dominance in AI data centres.

The Helios system pairs 6th generation AMD EPYC processors with Instinct accelerators in a rack-scale configuration targeting large-scale AI training and inference. TensorWave, an all-AMD AI cloud, said it would deploy the Helios rackscale solution to serve frontier AI customers.

Server manufacturers including MSI and MiTAC Computing detailed new platforms built on the 6th generation EPYC line, aimed at AI, cloud and high-performance computing workloads. MSI described new GPU, multi-node and enterprise systems, while MiTAC said its designs were engineered for agentic AI infrastructure.

The coordinated rollout underscored AMD's strategy of leaning on cloud specialists and original equipment manufacturers to accelerate adoption. Industry analysts have noted that AMD's ability to match Nvidia on rack-level integration, not just individual chips, will determine its competitive position in AI data centres.

The expansion arrives as power and land constraints reshape the industry. Croatia's grid operator this week approved a supply blueprint for a 1 GW facility, while several US counties debated moratoriums on new data centre construction.
