OGDEN, Utah — Sheila W. Wilds was formally promoted to brigadier general in the United States Air Force during a ceremony at the Hill Aerospace Museum on Thursday. Family members, Air Force personnel, colleagues and community members attended the event.
Wilds, a Utah native, was recognized for a military career spanning decades of service. The ceremony included the traditional pinning of the general officer's star, marking her elevation into the senior ranks of the Air Force.
The Hill Aerospace Museum, located near Hill Air Force Base, houses more than 90 military aircraft and missiles and regularly hosts promotion and retirement ceremonies. Organizers said the setting among historic aircraft underscored the significance of Wilds's achievement.
Women remain underrepresented among general officers in the Air Force. Speakers highlighted Wilds's leadership and mentorship of younger service members during the proceedings.
Family members said the ceremony represented the culmination of years of dedication and a moment of pride for the state. Attendees gathered for a reception at the museum following the formal program.
