Suriya's 'Karuppu' is showing no signs of slowing down at the Indian box office, with the Tamil action drama poised to cross the Rs 200 crore mark on Friday — its 13th day of release — cementing its place as one of the biggest Tamil-language hits of 2026. Trade analysts tracking the film's trajectory had flagged the milestone as imminent after the film posted Rs 183 crore by the end of Day 12, with collections remaining robust even as newer releases entered the market.

Distributors across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka reported strong advance bookings for the Friday morning shows, with several multiplex chains in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru indicating near-capacity screens. The film's overseas performance — particularly in the UAE, Malaysia, and North America — has also contributed meaningfully to its cumulative haul, with the international total expected to push past Rs 25 crore by end of the day.

Directed by Selvaraghavan, 'Karuppu' has drawn praise for its unflinching portrayal of systemic injustice, with Suriya's performance widely described by critics as career-defining. The film's word-of-mouth momentum, fuelled by strong social media engagement and repeat viewings among core fans, has allowed it to hold screens at a time when studio competition would typically erode such runs significantly.

Sony Music South, which holds the audio rights, separately announced Friday that the film's title track had surpassed 100 million streams on YouTube — a milestone that is expected to generate additional publicity just as the film crosses the Rs 200 crore threshold. Producer Studio Green confirmed in a statement that 'Karuppu' remains on track to become Suriya's highest-grossing film domestically, surpassing the previous benchmark set by 'Jai Bhim' in 2021.

Industry observers note that the third weekend will be the true test of the film's staying power, with a major Bollywood release entering wide screens simultaneously. Nevertheless, given the extraordinary loyalty of Suriya's fanbase and the film's strong critical reception, most analysts expect 'Karuppu' to close its theatrical run well above Rs 225 crore — a figure that would place it firmly in the upper tier of Tamil cinema's all-time domestic earners.
