Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day held the top position at the worldwide box office on Friday, with distributors reporting continued strong ticket sales across North America, India and international markets. The film has driven the summer's cinema recovery following weeks of record advance bookings.

The latest instalment in the Spider-Man franchise opened to record pre-sales in India earlier in the week, according to trade trackers including Sacnilk and Comscore. Multiplex chains PVR Inox and Cinepolis reported high occupancy for Friday shows, particularly in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, as the film moved deeper into its opening run.

Disney, which distributes Marvel titles worldwide, has positioned the film as a tentpole for the summer season alongside Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Analysts at Comscore noted that the two releases have together lifted overall exhibition revenue during a traditionally competitive late-July window.

Exhibitors said the film's performance underscored continued audience appetite for superhero franchises. Trade analysts expect weekend collections to determine whether the film sustains its pace against holdover competition and upcoming August releases.

PVR Inox reported that advance bookings for the weekend remained healthy across major Indian cities, with premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX reporting near-capacity sales for Friday and Saturday screenings.
