'Hanuman Ansh', the devotional drama that has defied expectations for a month, crossed the Rs 200 crore net mark in India on Monday, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The milestone follows a fourth weekend that outperformed most new releases.

The film opened to modest numbers in early August but built momentum through strong word of mouth in single-screen and semi-urban markets. Its fourth Friday saw collections rise rather than fall, a rare trajectory that trade analysts attributed to sustained family and repeat audiences during the festive season.

Distributors reported near-full occupancy across the Hindi-speaking heartland, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, over the weekend. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted on social media that the film's hold marked one of the steadiest runs for a mid-budget release in recent memory.

The result strengthens a growing commercial case for faith-based storytelling in Indian cinema, following earlier successes in the mythological genre. Producers confirmed the film had exceeded their initial projections several times over and would continue in theatres into September.

The milestone arrives at a competitive moment for Bollywood, where several higher-budget releases have struggled to sustain audiences beyond opening weekends. 'Hanuman Ansh' now ranks among the year's most profitable domestic releases relative to cost.
